PRODUCT INFORMATION

Basic Yellow O

CAS2465-27-2

Molecular formula: C17H22N3Cl

Molecular weight: 303.84

Melting point: 250℃

Properties: Yellow uniform powder, soluble in cold water, easily soluble in hot water (turning bright yellow), soluble in ethanol (turning yellow). When the temperature of its aqueous solution exceeds 70°C, it decomposes into tetramethylbenzophenone. When concentrated sulfuric acid is added to its aqueous solution, it turns colorless, and after dilution, it turns light yellow.

Solubility: Poorly soluble in cold water and ether, easily soluble in hot water and ethanol.

Purpose: Primarily used for dyeing hemp, paper, leather, straw woven products, rayon, viscose, etc., and also for printing and dyeing cotton fabrics. Its color lake is used in the production of wallpaper, colored paper, ink, paint, etc. It can be used to mix shades such as green or red. This product has become a "special dye for paper making", featuring convenience, excellent performance, and high quality at a reasonable price. It is a new product specifically designed for use in the paper-making industry.

[Production method]

The process involves the condensation of N,N-dimethylaniline with formaldehyde, followed by distillation; after crystallization and purification, sulfur is used;

Urea and ammonium chloride undergo ammoniation, followed by filtration; drying yields the finished product. Raw material consumption (kg, t) is as follows: N,N-dimethylaniline (98%) 110, formaldehyde (37%) 460, urea 700, sulfur (99%) 350, ammonium chloride 630, p-aminobenzene sulfonic acid (100%) 8, refined salt 7500.
