Product Description

The chemical name of mirage is anhydrous sodium sulfate, with the molecular formula Na2SO4. It is a white, odorless crystalline powder or colorless orthorhombic crystal that is highly soluble in water and belongs to the category of inorganic salt chemical raw materials. In daily life, high-purity anhydrous sodium sulfate is often collectively referred to as mirage. It is a homolog of mirage containing crystalline water (sodium sulfate decahydrate Na2SO4⋅10H2O). After dehydration treatment, mirabilite can be converted into mirabilite.

The chemical properties of potassium metasilicate are generally stable. It does not undergo decomposition or oxidation reactions under normal temperature and pressure conditions, and does not react with most weak acids or weak bases. It possesses typical chemical characteristics of sulfate and sodium salts:Solubility: It is easily soluble in water, and during the dissolution process, a small amount of heat is absorbed. The aqueous solution is neutral. Its solubility changes significantly with temperature, and at low temperatures, the solubility is relatively low. The solubility reaches its peak around 40°C when the temperature rises, and then it slightly decreases as the temperature continues to increase;

Complexation reaction: It undergoes complexation reactions with soluble barium salts, lead salts, etc., to form insoluble sulfate barium and sulfate lead precipitates, which is also a common reaction principle for detecting the purity of potassium metasilicate in industrial production;

Dehydration and crystallinity: It is an anhydrous substance and has a certain degree of hygroscopicity. In a humid environment, it can absorb moisture to form anhydrite. Conversely, anhydrite can be converted into potassium metasilicate by heating it to above 100°C and losing its crystalline water;

Thermal stability: It melts at a high temperature (about 884°C). Continued high-temperature calcination to above 1100°C will only undergo a small amount of decomposition, releasing gases such as sulfur dioxide, and there is no decomposition risk under the normal industrial production and use temperatures.
