Solvent Black 7, also known as oil-soluble aniline black or oil-soluble aniline black, with CAS number 8005-02-5 and molecular formula C29H24N6, is a blue-black to black powdered chemical substance. Its melting point is 275°C. It is insoluble in water but soluble in ethanol, benzene, toluene, and acidic substances. It forms a blue to blue-black precipitate in concentrated sulfuric acid. It is mainly used for coloring products such as plastics, rubber, bakelite, inks, paints, and shoe polishes.
